Dr. Steph Jumps Out of Perfectly Good Airplane!

Dr. Steph Jumps Out of Perfectly Good Airplane!

There is a time and place for humor in ATC-pilot communications, but it’s best to make it clear that you are joking. That’s what an ATL Tower controller learned last week, when his response to Delta 630’s comment about gate availability resulted in a go-around command. The controller immediately transmitted “just kidding,” but DL630 was transmitting at the same time, and didn’t hear that essential bit of info.

Dr. Richard Gilder Rockefeller, grandson of John D. Rockefeller, died last week when his Piper Meridian crashed in Westchester, NY. Foggy weather existed at the time.

Thomas Frank’s piece in USA Today last week, Unfit For Flight, has really rankled a bunch of folks in the General Aviation community. Of course, it’s not the first time a “journalist” has used statistics to support his narrative.

A pilot working for a skydiving company ended up jumping for the first time, when another skydiver damaged the tail of his plane, making it impossible to land.
